Melittobia
acasta (Walker) and Melittobia australica Girauld, the only two species of the genus found
in Venezuela, are characterized. Their hosts are also cited: Sceliphron fistularium (Dahlbom) for M. acasta and Euglossa cordata (L.), Chrysis
excavata (F.), Trichrysis
parvula (F.), Zeta
argillaceum (L.), Pachodynerus
nasidens (Latreille), P. brevithorax
(Saussure), Montezumia marthae
Saussure, Sceliphron fistularium (Dahlbom), Toechoricus sp. and Stelis sp. for M. australica. Melittobia Species Mentioned: Melittobia acasta; M. australica. Comments: A map of Venezuela (South America) shows the distribution of the Melittobia species found in this country. Drawings show male antennae of both Melittobia species. Drawings of males and both female morphological forms (short-winged and long-winged) for M. acasta and M. australica are also presented, together with a list of hosts, most mentioned for the first time herein. |
