EN LAS AVISPAS PARASITOIDES Melittobia
acasta Y Melittobia australica (HYMENOPTERA: EULOPHIDAE). [COURTSHIP BEHAVIOR IN THE PARASITOIDS
Melittobia acasta AND Melittobia australica (HYMENOPTERA: EULOPHIDAE)] Revista de Biología Tropical 1996. 44(2): 687 - 692. Abstract: Courtship behavior of Melittobia acasta (Walker) and M. australica Girault was described and compared to M. femorata Dahms and M. evansi Dahms, which had been previously studied. Significant differences in duration, frequency, and form of courtship phases among female morphs and species were found. Behavioral patterns are presented as complementary to morphological characteristics for species identification. Melittobia Species Mentioned: Melittobia acasta; M. australica; M. evansi; M. femorata. Comments: Drawings with postures of male and female Melittobia acasta during courtship are included. A table compares frequency and duration of different activities during courtship of the four Melittobia species studied. |
