INFLUENCIA
DE LA DENSIDAD POBLACIONAL SOBRE LA SOBREVIVENCIA EN Melittobia acasta (HYMENOPTERA: EULOPHIDAE) [INFLUENCE OF POPULATION DENSITY ON
SURVIVAL OF Melittobia acasta
(HYMENOPTERA: EULOPHIDAE)] Boletín del Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas L.U.Z.
1999. 33(3): 197 - 210. Abstract: Based on laboratory trials using different oviposition densities of the parasitic wasp Melittobia acasta (Walker) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), including the natural egg density of circa 400 eggs/host, we observed that population density was directly proportional to mortality in M. acasta. However, finding a host by only one M. acasta female is sufficient to ensure species reproduction. Melittobia Species Mentioned: Melittobia acasta Comments: A mortality table (expressed in percentages) for every stage in Melittobia acasta is presented. Also shown are figures that compare either the mortality of every stage or the mortality logarithm in every stage, and mortality curves at different oviposition densities. |
